EUROPEAN SCHOOL WITH NOVO-HISPANIC TOUCH 18./19 'VIRGEN BELEN'
SPECS 75 x 62,5 | 18/19th century
DESCIRPTION The Spanish school of art leaned very heavily on the Italian, and vice versa. Moreover, due to colonisation in the 15th and 16th centuries, many Andalusian and southern Spanish painters travelled to the "New World". This influence manifested itself in the Cuzco School or other Latin American imprints. This present work, showing the "Virgen Belén" is extremely interesting, for it combines an overseas character with extremely European features that point to a work in the Austrian-Tyrolean region. Unique in nature and make, rich in detail and imposing.

FRANS FLORIS DE VRIENDT I (attr.)
SPECS 29 x 37 | oil on panel | 16th century
DESCRIPTION Frans Floris de Vriendt I stood out in the 16th century with his international compositions, which moved from the Flemish to the Italian direction. Similar to the painting "Athena at the Muses", one recognises stylistic similarities in the work. We thank Hérbert Grenome for suggesting to leave the attribution Frans Flois, although this was not clear at the beginning. Nevertheless, the painting is incomparable because of its history. Numerous markings from old named auctions as well as notes and indications of provenance, such as the Baron de Collier. Furthermore, a very old tear-off in the lower part of the painting with the title "Peint par Floris", where reference was made to the "Diccionaire de Peinture". Oil on wood
